Gift Bag

I'm back with another post for you today.  After I finished my homemade gifts, I did not want to put them in a generic gift bag.  I found some Kraft gift bags at Hobby Lobby for fifty cents and they are perfect for my glass etching projects.  The cute little penguin came from Simply Charmed and is cute at 4.5".  The North Pole sign came from Jolly Holidays and is cut at 8".  I then added some ribbon and a quick tag I made using MCT's stamps and dies.  I think the fished product turned out pretty cute.

Glass Etching

It's Friday!  I so excited the weekend is here!  It has been a crazy week with grad school applications due soon and the holidays coming up.  I have a couple projects to share with you today.  I wanted to make a couple of gifts for people on my list this year.  I have always wanted to try glass etching so yesterday I did.  It is so easy and the finished product is so neat.  You will need glass, gloves, Armor Etch, a paintbrush, and a stencil or vinyl image.  I cut the images out on vinyl with my Cricut and then applied the image to the glass.  I did not use transfer tape but just peeled the vinyl form the sheet and adhered it to the glass.  I then took the etching cream and applied to the entire glass (the glass will be frosted wherever the etching cream is applied).  Let the glass sit for five minutes and then clean the glass with warm water.  Discard the vinyl and admire your finished product.  So easy!   I made a couple of these.  All of the supplies I bought at Hobby Lobby.  This first one is for my husband's grandma for Christmas.  She loves snowmen.  The image came from A Child's First Year.  The glass I bought has an opening in the bottom and a light fits perfectly.  I added some ribbon to the top and called it done!  Here is the finished product:

This next one I made for my neighbors.  They are always looking out for us and love MU football.  The football came from Life's A Party and I used the font from Birthday Bash.

Merry Christmas

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Winter is officially here!  We got our first snow today.  It only snowed about an inch but the roads were not pretty this morning.  It was a nice day to stay home curled up in a blanket working on grad school applications.  I do have a card to share with you today.  The background of the cad was done with Elegant Edges book feature.  I turned on the real dial size on my gypsy and made the shape as tall and wide as my card.  Although I have had my gypsy for a year, I just realized you can change the height and width independently. :)  The cute little elf came from the Jolly Holiday's cartridge.  I think this is my favorite Christmas cartridge.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Hello everyone!  I have a card to share with you that I made for a couple of challenges.  I have  seen some adorable window cards and I decided to give it a shot.  For the base, I welded two images from Elegant Edges together.  Then, I welded the chimney to the middle of the window.  Here is what I came up with:

Here is the card opened.  I am not thrilled with the way the inside came out but it's ok.  I should have made the window a little smaller but I will know for my next attempt.

PKS Sketch Challenge #65 with a Twist

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  My husband and I spent our holiday at home with his parents, his grandma, my mom, and my youngest sister.  It was a good day with family.  Yesterday I did manage to do a little bit of Black Friday shopping.  I went to Michael's in search of some ribbon and paper and stumbled upon the Ribbons and Rosette's cartridge for $24.99!  Of course I snatched it right up.  I dug it out today to play with it for PKS Sketch Challenge.  This challenge had a twist, paper piecing.  This was my first attempt at paper piecing and although I need more practice, my reindeer didn't turn out too bad.  I think I am going to LOVE the Ribbons and Rosettes cartridge.  My rosette was cut at 2" and I pieced five of them together.  It was so easy to do and I love how the rosette turned out!  Here is the sketch:

LFIF Holiday Recipe Cards

Happy Tuesday!  My project today was made for Peachy Keen's LFIF challenge.  The challenge was to create a card or layout to share your favorite holiday recipe.  I was excited to attempt this challenge because my sisters, mom, and I are going to have a baking party next month.  Here is what I came up with.  I plan to attach a recipe card with our favorite recipe for them to take home.

This is the side view.

My card was made from and 8x12 paper.  I scored the paper at 4", 6", and 8".  Adhesive was applied to one of the 2" strips and it was adhered to the card to make it stand up.  The original ribbon I had was white but I didn't like the way it looked so I added some Tea Dye Distress ink to change the color.

MCT Throwback Thursday Challenge

Hello everyone!  It has been a couple weeks since my last post.  My husband attended a conference for work at Walt Disney World and we followed him!  We spent the week in Orlando.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous and it was so much fun.  We went to Disney two years ago for Christmas and it was not near the experience we had a couple of weeks ago. Unlike two years ago, the crowds were so much more manageable.  It was just a more enjoyable trip.  Emma at My Creative Time is having a Throwback Thursday Challenge that is "kid themed".  In honor of our Disney trip I made this birthday card.

Here is a picture of us at Epcot.

Harvest Greetings

Hello everyone!  I am so excited that the weekend is finally here!  It looks like fall has finally made it to Missouri.  The temperatures have dropped and we finally broke down and turned on our heat.  My yard is also screaming of fall.  We have raked sixteen bags of leaves in total and yet somehow they keep falling.
It is a never ending battle and one that I am not winning.  Oh well.  Here is my card for the day.

Mini Album

Hello everyone!  I hope you all are having a fabulous week.  I have a mini album I would like to share with you.  I love the idea of mini albums, especially as gifts.  This is the first one I have ever done.  I wanted to cut it into a cute shape but ran into some trouble.  My cricut did not seem to want to cooperate and cut my chipboard.  If anyone has any tips on how to cut chipboard, I would greatly appreciate them.  I finally gave up and made a boring 8x8 square mini album.

I made this album for Melody Unger.  I went to college with her parents, Lois and Kaleb.  Lois and I were in the same social sisterhood.  Little Miss Melody is a miracle baby.  Due to health problems that Lois was having, she was born at twenty three weeks.  Melody joined this world in May at 10 inches and only 13 ounces.  Lois and Melody's fight to become healthy again was a long one.  Melody spent months in the NICU and Lois had some severe complications.  On October 3, Melody finally got to go home with her parents.  Things were looking up for the Unger family.  However, on October 11th, Lois' health took a turn for the worse and on the 15th she passed away.  I wanted Melody to have something for pictures of her and her mom.  So, I am sending the album to Kaleb so he can add pictures and journal memories.

EEEK!

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  Mine was pretty quiet, my husband had drill and my step-son was at his mom's.  My dog and I had the whole house to ourselves.  Every now and then it's kind of nice to have some "me" time.  Tonight I made a Halloween card to share with you.  I bought a couple Sew Easy Ribbon punches and wanted to give them a try.  For the most part, it is very easy to use.  I will say that keeping the ribbon straight is a bit difficult but I think with a little more practice I will get the hang of it.

Jolly Holly Day

Yay, it's Friday!  This weekend should be pretty low key.  For the first time in a long time, we have absolutely nothing to do.  There is not even a soccer game tomorrow.  This means I should have plenty of time to work on grad school applications.  I have a Christmas card to share with you today.  I am hoping to get a jump on these early this year.  All the cuts came from the Jolly Holidays cartridge.  I forget how many adorable images are on this cartridge.  This little elf turned out so cute!

LFIF - Leaves

Hello everyone!  I can't believe it is Wednesday already!  This week is flying by.  Now that the wedding is over, I have no excuses not to work on my grad school applications.  If I am good at one thing, it is procrastinating grad school applications.  Tomorrow I am hitting them hard.  Wish me luck.  The weather around here has been absolutely gorgeous.  Fall has snuck up on me.  I looked up the wedding was over and somehow fall was here.  My yard definitely knows it's here and needs some serious raking.  Tonight I have a fall card that I made for Peachy Keen's LFIF Challenge.

Why So Blue?

Happy Monday everyone!  The weekend seemed to fly by although we did not do much of anything.  I did manage to get outside yesterday morning and rake up some leaves but that was about as productive as it got.  My sister and her husband are back from their honeymoon.  They are coming up today to get their dog that we have been watching.  Today, I have a super simple card I made last night.  I absolutely love the Disney cuts but they are so time consuming!  This cute little Eeyore turned out pretty well though.

I'm Back :)

Hello everyone!  I feel like I have not posted in forever.  Last Saturday was my sister's wedding.  It was absolutely gorgeous.  I was out of town most of last week and I have spent this week recovering.  I finally got some time to make a couple of cards tonight.  My good friend from college is pregnant with baby number two.  They just found out that they are having a boy!  She is super excited.  I used the Peachy Keen sketch for inspiration to make her card.  Here is the sketch:

Whimsical Wednesday - Challenge #23

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  The bachelorette/bachelor party bar crawl was a success.  We had tons of fun.  I have spent the last couple of days recovering though.  I have however finally gotten caught up on my sleep and have a card to share with you.  I bought the Flower Shoppe cartridge not too long ago but hadn't had a chance to play with it.  I have to say I LOVE this cartridge!  It was so much fun to play with and there are just so many options.  The only tricky part was the middle and I found a quilling tool works great!
