One of My Favorite Summer Treats

Happy Thursday!  Despite the heat wave we are currently having, I love summer.  My favorite things include spending time outside, BBQ's, longer daylight and fresh fruits and vegetables.  Watermelon is one of my favorite summer time treats.  I love to go to the Farmer's Market and get fresh watermelon but it usually does not last long.  This cute little watermelon came from Simply Charmed.  As for the stamps, the sentiment came from My Creative Time's Just A Little Note To Say set and the face is from Peachy Keen's Wide Eyed Kids set.  It's a little hard to see in the picture but I used distress ink on the background paper and watermelon.  Finally, I played with one of the Sew Easy stitch piercers that I have had for awhile but do not use often enough.

After making this card, I think I may have to go get some watermelon this weekend.  I haven't had any in a really long time.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Baby It's Cold Outside

Hello everyone!  As I was typing the title of this post, I thought to myself I wish it was colder outside. Since it is too hot to do much of anything, I have been taking advantage of the AC this afternoon and making some cards.  Today I made my first Christmas card of the season.  My inspiration came from this Peachy Keen Sketch and color combo:

Cricut Cardz Challenge - Anything Goes Holiday
Peachy Keen  - Sketch Challenge with a Twist

Penguins are one of my favorite winter animals and I cannot resist these two!  They came from the Simply Charmed cartridge and the snowflakes came from Graphically Speaking.  I added stickles to the snowflakes to give it a little more sparkle.  The sentiment was heat embossed and came from Pink By Design's Christmas Wishes set. I used one of my favorite Peachy Keen sets Happy Lashes.  Thanks for looking and have a fabulous day.

Dino-Mite

Good evening!  I am on a roll this week with three posts for the week.  I am pretty excited to share this card with you because it is the first time I have taken images and welded them in my gypsy to make a shape card.  For this particular card, the images came from Create a Critter.  The bottom of the volcano was inked with Tea Dye Distress Ink and the lava was inked with Black Soot.  As for the sentiment, it came from Pink By Design's Oh Boy! set.  The sweet little face came from Peachy Keen's Boy Mates assortment.  I think my first attempt turned out pretty well and I am so so excited to make some more.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

For the "New Kids", a Hello Party

As I was browsing another blog earlier today, I discovered Sassy Sites is having a get to know you party for anyone who has had their blog for less than a year.  I thought it sounded like a cute idea and decided to play along.  Here are the Getting to Know You questions:

Why did you decide to start blogging? I decided to start blogging in order to participate in challenges and share my creativity.
When you aren't blogging, what are you doing?  When I am not busy crafting, you can find me working on grad school applications, running, playing with my dog, and spending time with my family.
What is your blog about?  My blog is my outlet to express my creativity.  I mostly do papercrafts, cards, and scrapbooking layouts.
When do you find the time to blog?  Summer is my down time so right now I have more free time than I normally do.  It has been great as I have started to get my blog off of the ground.
Why do you love blogging?  I love sharing my projects with other people and looking at other people's blogs for inspiration.
What is your favorite post so far that you've written?  My blog is pretty new so I do not have a lot to choose from but I think the card I did using the Twinkle Toes Cricut cartridge.  The picture is below, I just love the way she turned out!

My First Layout in a Long Time

I love my digital camera.  However, I am really bad when it comes to getting pictures printed.  My sister is getting married in the fall and we have been going through old family pictures.  I have had so much fun looking at them it made me want to catch up on my scrapbooking.  Since I have so many pictures that need to be printed, I have decided to start with pictures that are already printed.  These are pictures of my husband and my step-son before I knew them.

All of the images came from the Baby Steps cartridge and were cut at 3".  The squares were embossed with the Cuttlebug Traffic Jam embossing folder.

Sketch Challenge #56

Good morning everyone and welcome to another sketch challenge by Peachy Keen Stamps.  Here is the latest sketch:

I love the images on Nate's ABC's but had never used the cartridge until now.

Some stickles were added to the fish bowl and dog collar to give it some added pizazz. The sentiments on the inside and outside came from My Creative Time's Just a Little Note to Say set.  This set is perfect for any project!  Have a fabulous weekend!

This adorable little chick came from the Create a Critter cartridge.  I used one of my favorite Peachy Keen sets  Happy Lashes for the face.  The sentiment came from Pink by Design's Hoppy Easter set.  Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Throwback Thursday Challenge

Good morning!  Here are the details for the latest Throwback Thursday Challenge:

***Use either "Wild Card" OR "Just Because" cartridges! & PLEASE incorporate some EMBOSSING somewhere on any project of your choice! You can dry or heat emboss, whichever you prefer!

I actually own both of these cartridges but have never used either one.  On several different blogs, I had seen people make a spinner card using the Wild Card cartridge.  So, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and give it a try.  Here is what I came  up with:

If you spin the dial on the side her face changes.

I think my first attempt turned out pretty well!  All the stamps I used came from Pink By Design.  The background is heat embossed with Swirl Curls and the sentiment came from their Summer Vacation set.  Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Peachy Keen Sketch Challenge #55

Welcome to another Peachy Keen Sketch Challenge!  Here is the sketch they gave us to work with:

I am trying to use cartridges I have never used before on some of these challenges and today I decided to pull out Life's A Party.  Here is the card I came up with:

I love how this cute little lion turned out!  The adorable face came from Peachy Keen's Critter Faces and the sentiment came from My Creative Time's Just a Little Note to Say set.
